This week at “The Opening” 166 of the best high school football players have assembled to perform a variety of activities that exhibit their football abilities and athleticism. At Tracking Football we believe there is no better way to assess a football player’s true athleticism than by evaluating the combination of his height, weight, position, track and field data / multiple sport participation. That’s why we developed the Player Athletic Index score and provide NCAA approved recruiting services to FBS schools across the country. The PAI is a completely objective and standardized analytic that allows us to identify, evaluate and compare raw athleticism in a football-centric manner. 101 (61%) football players at the 2016 “The Opening” participated in track and field at some point in high school, and 70 (42%) were on their school’s track team as recently as 2016. Our research consistently proves that a large majority of elite football athletes do not specialize as preps. Below are the only six players to earn a 5.0 / 5.0 PAI score.
